The Mentone Hotel redevelopment was a heritage-led transformation of one of Melbourne’s most recognisable coastal buildings. Momentum retained and restoredkey architectural features—including the historic façade and grand staircase—understrict state heritage protections.The ground floor continues to operate as a hospitality venue (500–600m²), while theupper level and surrounding grounds were repurposed into ten premium apartmentsand sixteen architecturally sympathetic townhouses. Beach views were maximised,and contemporary materials were carefully blended with original construction underthe guidance of Design Director Peter Brook.The Mentone Hotel project demonstrates Momentum’s ability to balancepreservation with modern functionality—reviving a beloved community space into alegacy project for futuregenerations.

Completed by Momentum Developments in partnership with builder WolfGroup, the project offers 36 bespoke residences complemented by a lively retailfrontage.Architects Peddle Thorp, landscape designer John Patrick, and interior firm WebberDesign collaborated to create a cohesive living environment. Floorplans were tailoredto maximise light and airflow,while rooftop terraces and secure lift access elevate theexperience.The ground-floor tenancies activate the streetscape, contributing to Centre Road’sgrowing commercial offering.
