The Mentone Hotel redevelopment was a heritage-led transformation of one of Melbourne’s most recognisable coastal buildings. Momentum retained and restored key architectural features-including the historic façade and grand staircase-under strict state heritage protections. The ground floor continues to operate as a hospitality venue (500–600m²), while the upper level and surrounding grounds were repurposed into ten premium apartments and sixteen architecturally sympathetic townhouses. Beach views were maximised and contemporary materials were carefully blended with original construction under the guidance of Design Director Peter Brook. The Mentone Hotel project demonstrates Momentum’s ability to balance preservation with modern functionality-reviving a beloved community space into a legacy project for future generations.
